Introduction
On January 29, 2021, the president of the United Mexican States submitted before the Mexican Chamber of Representatives (Cámara de Diputados) an initiative (the “Initiative”) intended to modify several provisions of the Power Industry Law (Ley de la Industria Eléctrica) (“LIE”). The Initiative was submitted as “preferential”, in order for the Chamber of Representatives to discuss and vote it in no more than 30 calendar days, as of the date of its submission; otherwise, it shall be the first item on the agenda for the next period of the plenary session of the Chamber of Representatives for its discussion and voting.
